Sikorsky Military Completions Center Headquarters

 

main_imageThe development of administrative headquarters for Sikorsky's International and Military Completions business, including a customer delivery center and manufacturing space for military aircraft. 100,000 sq.ft , including 60,000 sq.ft. of hangar space and 40,000 sq.ft. of offices and training facilities on 14 cares at the Elmira Corning regional Airport.

Project Need (problem)

Sikorsky sought to locate its entire military completions business in a separate high end location where customers from around the world will come to buy and be trained on operation and maintenance of military aircraft purchased from Sikorsky. The Completions Center takes Black hawk and other military aircraft constructe by Sikorsky and customizes the technology for individual international customers. Aircraft range from $ 25 million to $ 40 million each. Sikorsky sought a location separate from the Sikorsky Hawkworks manaufacturing facility to host international customers and house adminystrative offices.

Project Solution

The Chemung County Industrial development Agency is borrowing $ 10.5 million to completely renovate and underutilized facility on the Airport and installing fire suppression systems in 2 hangars and building out office and training space. Sikorsky is signing a guaranteed lease for 12 years, with a purchase option, that covers the CCIDA mortgage. ESDC contributed $ 1.7 million in grants to offset construction and renovation costs. Sikorsky has added 800 jobs at the Elmira airport location in the past 4 years. The NYS Office of Community Renewal provided a $750,000 grant to offset machinery costs.
