Welch Allyn, Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of medical diagnostic instruments, whose headquarters is located in Skaneateles, New York. The company employs 1,125 employs in its Central New York location. In 2008, the company announced that it planned to construct a Silver, LEED certified 124,000 sq feet expansion to its manufacturing space and renovate approximately 50,000 sq ft of existing space.
Welch Allyn sought financial assistance in the form of sales and use tax exemption, a payment-in-lieu-of-tax agreement as well as training assistance from the Onondaga County IDA (“OCIDA”). The company also applied for Empire Zone benefits.
With the financial assistance of OCIDA and the Empire Zone, the company is well underway with its expansion and renovation. Welch Allyn expects to occupy the space in the end of 2009.
