New Era Cap Company

New Era Cap Company BuildingIn August of 2005, New Era Cap Company began a search for a new corporate headquarters and considered an expansion of its current manufacturing plant, which had reached capacity. New Era's headquarters and manufacturing operations were located in Evans, a rural suburb of Buffalo, NY; and they also managed sales and manufacturing operations internationally. In the U.S., New Era needed to expand both manufacturing and its headquarters while creating a high-profile location to host customers from around the world

Project Need (problem)

The challenge was finding appropriate corporate space in downtown Buffalo that could be a signature location for this global company and be completed at a price that was competitive with other potential locations nationwide.

Project Solution

The Buffalo Niagara Enterprise (BNE) assisted New Era Cap Company with its site search and public sector incentive package. BNE helped coordinate discussions with Empire State Development, City of Buffalo, Erie County IDA, National Grid and Town of Evans representatives. Critical to the project's success was piecing together a variety of incentives to create a competitive package. Incentives included a capital grant from NYS Economic Development Corporation; capital grants from National Grid for electrical upgrades, and designation as an Empire Zone at both headquarters and manufacturing facilities. New Era chose a unique location at 160 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo that was formally a Federal Reserve Bank. The New Headquarters features administrative offices, New Era's first retail store, a community room, and a New Era Museum. For more information, click here view the New Era story.
