Madison County, in partnership with the Village of Canastota and the NYS Canal Corporation, is seeking responses from interested entities with proven experience developing mixed-income, market rate, and/or mixed-use housing developments through a recently released Request for Qualifications (RFQ).  Through the RFQ, Madison County is seeking to partner with a developer on the redevelopment of the 160 Center Street site in Canastota, NY.  This project has received a $1.5M grant through the New York Power Authority and New York State Canal Corporation’s Reimagine the Canal’s Initiative and aims to link new desirable housing choices along the historic Canal and Erie Canalway Trail while appealing to a growing demand for connected, walkable, and amenity–based homes and neighborhoods along the waterfront. In addition to the $1.5 million Reimagine the Canals funding, the Village of Canastota was selected for a $4.5 million NY Forward grant, and this project has the opportunity to receive NY Forward funding as part of that process. The RFQ will be open until August 7th. Once live, you can find the RFQ here.
