Market Realities of the Cannabis Industry and How to Prepare Your Communities for Industry Growth - Ballroom

The New York State Department of Health estimated the marijuana market size to be between $1.7 and $3.5 billion. Analysis done by the  Rockefeller Institute for Government found that a $1.7 billion industry could generate a total economic output of $4.1 billion and total employment of 30,700. The industry could attract hundreds of millions of dollars in capital investment shortly after legalization as investors take advantage of the new market. With legalization comes economic opportunities for retail, supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution. Hear from private sector industry experts in site selction, supply chain, and public policy, about how communities can best be prepared to take advantage of this growing economy.

PRESENTATION

While we have also seen an increase in diversity amongst economic development leadership, still remains much work to be done to engage more in the economic development process. To meet the growing professional needs of the economic development community, the NYSEDC is launching the NYSEDC Women‘s Leadership and Diversity Council (WLDC), a program designed to promote the role of women in the economic development field in New York State (NYS) and provide participants with the tools and skills for active leadership roles in their communities. This session will provide more information about how you and your team can participate.
